Jenkins: Gloria

Dr. Marie Bucoy-Calavan, DCINY Guest Conductor
Sir Karl Jenkins, Composer-in-Residence
Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, Carnegie Hall
Monday, January 18, 2027

On Monday, January 18, 2027, we celebrate the immeasurable life and legacy of DCINY Co-Founder and Artistic Director Dr. Jonathan Griffith in NYC exactly as he would have wanted, by filling Carnegie Hall with the music of Sir Karl Jenkins, which he so passionately championed and programmed, performed by the artists and friends who inspired him most. This performance, dedicated in Jonathan's memory, is Composer-in-Residence Sir Karl's first return to Carnegie Hall since becoming the first-ever living composer to top the Classic FM Hall of Fame global chart at #1 earlier this year.

Stepping to the podium to conduct Sir Karl Jenkins' Gloria in Jonathan Griffith's honor is none other than Marie Bucoy-Calavan. Dr. Bucoy-Calavan, a meteoric rising star described as “destroying stereotypes and breaking boundaries for the arts and choral music,” is the very embodiment of Jonathan's continuing legacy. A 2026 Conductor Debut Award recipient, Bucoy-Calavan represents the powerful pathway DCINY has created to champion emerging talent from debut to mastery.
